|A Gorgeous View of the City|
This incredible journey of mine started last January when I called CEA about their Westminster program. As I heard more about it, my enthusiasm grew. Not only was the location perfect, but I would have the opportunity to take communication classes abroad as well, which is something I wouldn't have been able to do had I gone through my school. Consider all my boxes ticked!

Once I got accepted into the program, my excitement level reached one hundred. I started researching pubs, theatres, football clubs, the underground, museums and any touristy thing I could come up with. Fast forward to departure: I've packed my life into a suitcase, exchanged dollars for pounds, said goodbye to my family, and boarded my plane. As we took off, I saw my home city of Boston disappear into the night and instantly fears of the unknown began to hit me.
These fears included being away from friends and family, adapting to a new education system, a new city, and culture. On top of that, I felt like I was on my own for four months. What did I get myself into?!! However, my fear and anxiety slowly wavered after I landed.

I met the London program director, Cassandra, who helped me as well as some other CEA students moving in that week, settle into our new homes. She went as far as to give us walking tours of the areas near our accommodations, explaining how the public transit system works here, and showing us where to get necessities. Seriously, during my first few days I desperately needed to buy new linens and she knew exactly where to go.
Also, the friends I've made have helped me adapt to life in England. Given that they are also international students, we share many of the same challenges. Which gives me a good deal of confidence whenever we get out of our rooms and go out on the town. Additionally, these aren't just American friends, they're from all over the world, which has really broadened my horizons as a person and communicator.
So here I am: one month in and loving every second of it!
