Studying abroad with CEA has been a great experience so far. They offer many different activities that allow students to get acquainted to and embrace a new culture. Each month there is a different culture immersion activity that heightens students' understanding of their host country. My favorite activities are the weekend excursions planned by CEA.

This past weekend I traveled with over forty other students from CEA to Arenal, Costa Rica for three days. This weekend included many different activities including an Oxcart tour, a waterfall, hot springs, and a volcano!

 CEA Students

The first destination of the trip was in Sarchi where we learned about the first mode of transportation in Costa Rica years ago. This included a tour of the factory that produced oxcarts as well as observing artesian artists recreate designs that were popular years ago.  After this stop, we continued to our hotel in Arenal. It was beautiful featuring breathtaking views of the Arenal volcano, hot spring pools, and a spa! My favorite part of the hotel was the yoga that was offered at six a.m.
 Relaxing on the deck

The next day we went to La Fortuna waterfall. We hiked to this beautiful waterfall and then we could swim right under it! After this we went to Baldi Hot Springs. This was an outdoor resort that had twenty-five different hot spring pools. My favorite part was going on the water slides! There was a view of the volcano from here as well that made me feel as if I was in a postcard! This was one of my favorite days in Costa Rica so far because I was so awestruck by the beautiful views and had such a great time with the other students from CEA!
 Meditating on the falling water

Our final day of this excursion we had the option to hike around the Arenal volcano which is still active! Not only was this good exercise but we were able to learn about plants, animals and other Costa Rican wildlife! The hike was a workout but the views made it all worth it!

This weekend was truly unforgettable all thanks to CEA! They truly are making sure that this experience is not only pleasant but that the memories will stay with us forever!

 Thanks, CEA
