The Food in Grenoble

Here studying abroad in Grenoble, there are many markets where you can buy anything from spices to fresh vegetables to street food and so much more.
 The Vegetable Markets

 Spices at the markets

Before coming to France, I had an expectation that the food here was going to be great. After living here for a while I can easily say the food is better than great!
 Oh, sweet France

From the crepes, pastries, and baguettes, to the fresh meat and vegetables that are always accessible at street markets it is so easy to enjoy the essence of French food. Especially when you are on a budget it is so nice to be able to rely on getting relatively inexpensive vegetables at the markets to cook new things with.
 Festival food

Beyond the markets, the typical food that you can find at festivals is always a good choice. Especially if you are looking for some good old comfort food, then you can count on any food stands to have what you are looking for. Grenoble is know for its kebabs and tacos and if you are looking for the French version of fast food, then this is what you will indulge in.
 Don't forget crepes!

 Creme brulee

Finally, if you come to visit Grenoble, or really anywhere in France, you cannot go with out developing a sweet tooth and a taste for cheese and sausage.
 Saucisson

The cheese and sausage here is unlike anywhere you can find in the US.  There are so many different kinds and I have found that my favorite is the Truffel Cheese.  It is so delicious! Also, the pastries and deserts are fantastic.
 Le fromage

Grenoble is know for Chartreuse so if you would like to try a new desert it is easy to find Chartreuse flavored ice cream and many other unique deserts.  All in all, France is a great place to explore new cuisines especially if you enjoy cheese and desert.
