Where do study abroad students go on a Friday night in London?

As one of the most cosmopolitan cities around the world, the choice and range of where students go on a Friday night in London is quite impressive. Foremost, there are 5,700 pubs in London and many are historic (i.e. The Dove Pub in Hammersmith boasts Ernest Hemingway as a former customer). Moreover, pubs here are a great place to meet locals and be immersed in the British social scene. Then, there are the famous London clubs. With a club scene that is second to none, there are numerous venues to choose from.

For example, London is home to the very trendy Ministry of Sound, the forefront of the global dance music scene. In lieu of London’s famous nightlife, a more common Friday night out for a student normally means standing in a queue for one of the many clubs in Leicester Square, Piccadilly, Oxford Circus, Old Street, Kensington, etc. On the other hand, if one fancies a more subdued activity, walking along the cobblestone streets of Covent Garden can also be a relaxing pastime on a Friday night. If not, the National Portrait Gallery hosts live events and/or there are plenty of plays to see in the London's West End theater district!

When it comes to London, it’s not a matter of what to do or where to go, but what not to do or where not to go. Accordingly, the answer to where students go on a Friday night in London is as extensive as the number of pubs, clubs, music venues, activities, plays, and events in this multinational city.
