Highlights and Hidden Gems of Granada, Spain
My first month in Granada has been amazing! The city is filled with so much history. We have had a lot of rain over the past few weeks, as has most of Spain, but I have still been able to do a lot of exploring! My photos highlight some of my favorite places that I’ve visited.

A classic street in Granada! Taken on my first day in the city.

Exploring Granada with new friends during our first week.
With CEA CAPA, we toured the Albacín neighborhood and the Alhambra. Both were absolutely incredible and unlike anything I’ve seen before. I plan to go back to Albacín soon!

A view from the Albacín, the oldest neighborhood in Granada. We took a tour with CEA CAPA during orientation!

More of the Alhambra, the most famous monument in Granada. We toured the palace at the end of our second week in Granada.
We also took a trip to Seville with the program. It was so great to visit another city with such incredible history and have a day to explore!

I’ve also discovered some “hidden gems” while walking around the city that I’ve quickly made my comfort places. I love to pass the time wandering through parks and learning about the history behind who they’re named after. I’ve also enjoyed strolling the aisles of the fruit markets and grocery stores; everything is so fresh and delicious!

Statue of Federico García Lorca, a famous poet from Granada, in my favorite park. I’ve been back multiple times now!

Tomatoes in the Granada market. I love walking the aisles!
On Sundays, my roommate and I have been trying out different churches to find our favorite. The cathedrals in Granada are AMAZING. They’re all so unassuming from the outside, but stepping through the doors takes my breath away. The intricacy of the architecture and design is beyond comprehension.

Between classes, my friends and I tried a bunch of different coffee shops, and we’ve landed on a favorite. It’s super close to our university building, and the coffee, matcha, and pastries are delicious. It has been so lovely to find comfortable places to spend time doing homework, catching up with friends, reading a book, or escaping the rain.

I’m already in love with this city, and I can’t wait to see what else and where else I discover in my new home over the next few months!
