A (Food) Trip to Borough Market in London

One of the first things that I noticed about London when I arrived here was how many different markets there are around the city! Some big, some small, they are everywhere, and they contain everything. Some just have food, while others have small shops, tourist gifts, snacks, and everything in between. One of the bigger and more popular markets is Borough Market.

Borough Market is located south of the River Thames and near London Bridge. Right between the famous Shard and Shakespeare's Globe, Borough Market basically makes up its own little food village given the amount of options they offer. Open every day during the week, the countless food stalls and food stores that are inside can leave you looking for hours.

I live about 20 minutes from Borough Market, so it makes for an easy trip for a quick snack, lunch, or drink with friends. There is every type of food you could possibly think of, so the endless options often leave too much indecisiveness-especially given that the entire area smells delicious!

Borough Market is also a great destination to go with friends! One of the best things to do is to get lots of plates of different foods to share with your friends-that way you can try multiple different bites from all the different vendors there. Everything is so delicious, so you truly can't go wrong with picking anything!

Borough Market is divided into three smaller markets, which all make up the larger Borough Market. There is Three Crown Square, where you can find merchants selling their food, drinks, and other products in more bulk sizes; Green Market, which has smaller merchants selling their products; and finally Borough Market Kitchen, where all the yummy made-to-order food is.

On this particular day, I went in starving and willing to eat anything that I could get my hands on fast. That being said, I was also looking strictly at the vendors with the shortest lines. Some of the most popular foods at Borough Market are paella pasta and all the seafood spots- all those lines are always crazy long! Because of that I was on the hunt for something else. While walking around with one of my friends, we stumbled on the gyoza stand-they do five for £5 chicken or veggie gyoza, which also happens to be one of my favorite foods! I got some of that and then continued taking a lap looking for my next bite to eat!

While taking a few laps, I knew I wanted to try something new, so we ended up going to Gourmet Goat, a Greek restaurant. There I got a chicken gyro, and my friend got a chicken and chickpea Greek salad-both were delicious! The best thing about Borough Market is they have every kind of food there, so you truly could have anything your heart desires and do a whole self-guided food tour!

After taking a second to breathe from eating all that food, we made our way to the dessert area in the market, because we all know, even if you are stuffed, the dessert part of your stomach never is! We took a few more laps, and then decided on some gelato-because you can never go wrong with that! I got raspberry gelato, and they even put a little cookie wafer on top-it makes for a good crunch with each bite!

Borough Market is definitely a can't-miss spot when coming to London, given that no matter the day, it always has something for everybody! I recommend everyone take a trip across the River Thames just to hit up this can't-miss market!
