Excursions were one of my favorite things from study abroad, and CEA does excursions really well. I studied abroad in Granada, Spain, in the Spring of 2019. During my semester, I went on five excursions with CEA. Through these trips, I was able to learn about the cities in which we were traveling and bond with other students abroad. If you choose to study abroad in Granada with CEA, here are some of the awesome adventures you can look forward to having!

Córdoba

The first excursion I went on was to the city of Córdoba. We took a day trip from Granada to experience the beauty of this Andalusian town. The main attraction in Córdoba is the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba. This mosque-turned-cathedral is a beautiful example of the rich mix of cultures that southern Spain has to offer. Our trip to Córdoba was beautiful and relaxing.

Seville and Ronda

Our next excursion was an overnight trip to Seville and Ronda. Our first stop was Seville, the capital of Andalusia. My favorite sights in Seville were the Real Alcazár de Sevilla and the Plaza de España. The next day we headed to Ronda, famous for the incredible Puente Nuevo, pictured below. This trip allowed us to experience some of Spain’s largest tourist attractions.

Morocco

Our next adventure was an international excursion to Morocco! We took a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to this beautiful country. In Morocco, we got to go to ride camels in Tangier, learn about culture in Tetuan, and explore the “Blue Pearl” of Chefchaouen. This excursion was my favorite because we got to experience so much culture and see so many beautiful places!

4

Nerja

Our next excursion was a day trip to the beautiful town of Nerja, Spain. We had a fun day relaxing on the beach. It was wonderful to have a trip like this planned toward the end of the semester so that we could all reflect on our time in Spain as a group.

Alpujarras

Our final excursion was a day trip to the Alpujarras. This is a region of Andalusia that is located on the Sierra Nevada. During this trip, we visited a museum, shopped, hiked, and visited a chocolate factory that made the best chocolate I have ever had! This was a great adventure to end our semester in Spain.

As you can see, CEA offers incredible opportunities through their excursions from Granada. Excursions are one aspect of study abroad that can really enhance your experience as you get to experience new cultures and places outside of your host city. I am grateful I was able to experience all of these adventures because of my time studying abroad with CEA!
