Get a Flight Credit worth up to The first of many excursions CEA offered was to Honfleur, which is in the Normandy region of France. With a day full of activities and sights to see, I met up with fellow CEA students at 7 AM ready to board a two-hour bus ride. When we arrived, I couldn't wait to explore the quaint town that was called Honfleur. My eyes were automatically drawn to the beautiful port, narrow houses, and sail boats.
Our day began with a tour around Honfluer, exploring the rich architecture and history. With timber framed houses surrounding you, it's impossible not to feel like you’re in a fairy tale. Our tour ended with a hike up the hill and a spectacular view. I couldn’t help, but watch the ferris wheel and carousel twirling around in the city.
As we made our way back down to the city, I was excited to venture off and explore what Honfleur had to offer. I stopped at the market for fresh peaches and strawberries (probably the best peach I've ever had). Dessert came before lunch when I popped inside a chocolate shop and couldn’t wait to try a delicious chocolate truffle. We walked over to some local restaurants and had an awesome lunch. Right on the port, Honfluer is known for the seafood, and although I didn’t have some, everyone who did, said it was amazing.
I made sure to grab a few postcards before leaving. Three for my family, and one for me. I’ve been sending myself postcards from every city or destination I visit, just as a small memento for when I get back to the states.
I grabbed all of my stuff and hopped back on the bus. The next stop we’re going? The Calvedoux. An apple cider distillery fifteen minutes away gave us the chance to see how cognac, cider, and cocktails are all created from apples. Now that I learned about the process, and saw how long it takes for a simple bottle of apple cider, I appreciate the taste so much more.
This was also my first time sampling french cheese to go along with my drinks. Although, I’m not a cheese person, you could definitely taste the quality. After I washed my cider down with some fine cheese, it was time to head back on the bus to go home. With a long day behind me, and new friends made, I felt beyond excited for my future in Paris, and with CEA.
