The Futbol
Whether you’re a FC Barcelona fan (which I am), a Real Madrid fan, or you didn’t even know that soccer was called “futbol” in Spain, the city is vivid in its passion for the sport. With two teams, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, you can find yourself screaming along with the locals every time a GOOOOOOOL is scored.
Perspective
The best part about being in Spain's capital was being able to witness the political views of so many different people. The Madrilenos were always open to share their stories. Here in the US we don't always get the chance to be a part of movements like these. Be bold and do something new, you will meet so many inspiring people on this path.
Tapas. Will. Change.Your. Life.
Tapas are small portions of finger foods that are extremely popular in Spain. Almost everywhere you go you can find a wide variety of tapas. From a cheese platter, meatballs, or patatas bravas, your hunger will always be satisfied.
Paella. That is all.

The Architecture
Taking a stroll alongside buildings that are older than the United States? I don't know about you, but that sounds amazing. As Spain's capital, Madrid has evolved from neo-classical architecture, to baroque, to modern. With the city being home to millions of Spaniards, the buildings have evolved, and it is evident.
El Rastro
Every Sunday in the streets of La Latina district (green metro line if anyone is interested), countless venders set up stands for a huge flea market. You can find clothing, jewelry, souvenirs, the list goes on and on.
The Views
With Madrid being a metropolitan city, the skyline is absolutely breathtaking. You can find yourself at rooftop bars and restaurants enjoying the scene.
El Buen Retiro
The largest park in Madrid, about half the size of Central Park in NY (but 10x better) is the best hangout spot there is. With a lake to row boats, workout spots and a running path, you can catch every Madrileno here on a gorgeous day.
