About the Program

Program Description

Take core courses for your science or engineering major or general electives in math, sciences, and humanities. You’ll attend class with French, European, and North American students at one of France’s leading schools in Europe's very own "Silicon Valley". Here, you'll have an extraordinary opportunity to study hard sciences—such as chemistry, biology, and physics— as well as chemical, computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering, all taught in English. Most courses are geared toward first- or second-year students to provide a solid foundation in science and engineering. Supplement your studies with math, business, and communication courses, as well as general education courses such as humanities and psychology. While not required, you're encouraged to study French language, offered at all levels.

Program Structure

Choose from a wide range of courses and earn up to 16 credits (up to 240 contact hours). Courses each meet for 15-60 contact hours/1-4 credits. Classes meet Monday-Friday.

Before you leave for France, you'll pre-select courses directly through a SKEMA online course registration form. You’ll receive your class schedule during on-site orientation; you may make changes during a two-week add/drop period. If you're taking a French language course, you'll take a language placement exam on-site. SKEMA reserves the right to make changes to course lists, course times and pre-selected courses right until the start of the semester.

It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Spring students may also apply for an optional, non-credit internship at the Cannes Film Festival. This résumé-building internship at one of the largest media events in the world takes place in mid-May and is a wonderful complement to your studies in France. A film or communications background is preferred, but students from other disciplines will be considered. Submit your application once you're on-site. Please note, internship placements are highly competitive.

Where You'll Study

Renowned as one of Europe’s most prestigious business schools, the SKEMA Business School offers courses taught in English and courses accredited by AACSB. You’ll attend classes with French and other international students at this small, private university.

Where You'll Stay

When you study abroad in the French Riviera, you can choose standard CEA housing—in an apartment or homestay—or arrange your own independent housing. CEA housing assignments are based on availability and confirmation date; we make every effort to match your housing requests, but we can’t guarantee housing preferences.
