Designed for students at all French language levels, this program allows you to acquire and improve French language skills while earning credit toward your major or graduation requirements. Your language courses focus on grammar, vocabulary development, listening comprehension, and oral expression. Courses taught at the CEA CAPA Paris Center have been designed in conjunction with, and approved by, the University of New Haven (UNH). In addition, faculty appointments have been approved by UNH. After the successful completion of a session at the CEA CAPA Paris Center, you will receive credit for your work from UNH. Located in Connecticut, the University of New Haven is a student-focused, comprehensive university that’s fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The agreement between CEA CAPA and UNH follows the highest standards of good practice in education abroad and satisfies the rigorous requirements of the University's institutional accreditor, making credits earned at the CEA CAPA Paris Center easily transferable to US-accredited institutions. Grading
Professors at the CEA CAPA Paris Center will carefully evaluate your work and progress throughout their academic session. When calculating the final grade, instructors consider written and oral exercises, homework assignments, attendance, classroom participation, and exam performance.

Institut Catholique de Paris
Institut Catholique de Paris, founded in 1875, is a private French university that has welcomed international students to its campus since 1948. Courses are held on the Institut Catholique campus in the 6th arrondissement, the heart of historical Paris. You’ll attend class just a stone's throw away from the Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and Montparnasse. The school is accredited by the French Ministry of Education, and is a member of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC). Students who successfully complete their program will be issued an official transcript by the Institut Catholique de Paris.
You’ll enroll in courses with other international students at the Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises (ILCF), the Institut Catholique’s center for French Language and Culture. The professors at ILCF specialize in teaching French as a foreign language to students of all language levels. Out of a total student population of 30,000, there are approximately 3,500 foreign students, representing 120 countries and providing you the opportunity to meet students from around the world in one of Europe's most diverse and exciting cities.
Credit Transfer Information
The Institut Catholique de Paris utilizes a 60-minute contact hour whereas the United States higher education system utilizes a 50-minute contact hour. Recommended U.S. credits listed on CEA CAPA's website reflect a conversion of these contact hours. Credit transfer is ultimately determined by your home university. Please consult with an academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
Transcript Information
Students receive a transcript from Institut Catholique de Paris upon successful completion of the program. Transcript includes the number of hours per week and the weeks in the semester, so US colleges/universities may calculate the appropriate number of US credits they choose to award their students.

Enroll in 1 Catho language course and 1-2 CEA CAPA courses. Catho language courses meet for 151 contact hours/10 credits; CEA CAPA courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. CEA CAPA elective courses meet 1-3 times per week, Monday-Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.
You may earn 13-16 credits (up to 235 contact hours) per semester. Academic year students may earn 26-32 credits (up to 470 contact hours).
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses and take an online placement examination. Your course enrollments will be based on availability and the result of your placement exam. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for France. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Health & Safety
Health and safety are a top priority when selecting and reviewing program housing. When evaluating housing, CEA CAPA considers several factors including the surrounding location, commute time to academic or internship settings, as well as the condition of the building exterior and interior, common areas, the individual housing unit, and other living spaces. CEA CAPA works to ensure that program housing meets established minimum health and safety guidelines and aligns with best practices in the field.
