About the Program

Explore Global Perspectives on Nursing and Comparative Healthcare. Interested in nursing, midwifery, and medical practice? Learn how historical and social change has influenced the development of nursing functions and examine how ethics, sociology, religion, law, economics, and philosophy have affected clinical practice and the impact these have had on the role of nurses and midwives.
This 6-week summer program provides a unique opportunity to gain a new perspective on nursing and to compare the healthcare systems of the US and the UK and explore questions of universal healthcare, including issues of inequality in accessing it.

Program Structure

This program is composed of two 3-credit courses: "Comparative Healthcare Systems" and "Global Perspective on Nursing and Midwifery History". Courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. Elective courses generally meet 2 times per week, Monday-Thursday; however required active learning components may be scheduled on Fridays. You may earn a total of 6 credits during your program.
