About the Program
As one of the European Union’s largest agricultural producers, agriculture accounts for roughly two percent of Italy’s GDP. Core courses in this program allow you to investigate the agricultural systems, businesses and economics of Italy. Your studies will explore the country’s large-scale production, as well as small-scale, high quality consumer goods. Courses will consider resources and environment, and the effect of local and EU policies. Your professors will take advantage of Florence’s central location to help you discover Italy’s agricultural heritage and reality as course trips outside the classroom will bring your studies to life.

Program Structure
Enroll in 1 Italian language course, 1-2 core courses, and 1-3 elective courses. You also have the option to enroll in up to 2 CEA virtual courses. Language courses meet for 60 contact hours/4 credits, and core and elective courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. You may earn up to 16 credits (up to 240 contact
hours).
Language courses meet 4 times per week, Monday-Thursday. Elective and core courses generally meet 2 times per week, Monday-Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.
CEA virtual courses are taught in English using an online Learning Management System. You are expected to be an active participant in online forums, in addition to completing your regular readings, videos and homework. You can expect a blend of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (at your own pace) learning approaches that provide individual attention and flexibility for your learning style. Engaging in your “own way” gives you an opportunity to showcase your engagement in any topic or assignment while being part of an online global learning community.
Prior
to departure, you will select your preferred courses and indicate your estimated Italian language level. After you arrive in Florence, you'll take a language placement exam to determine final placement. You will be enrolled into courses based on their
availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your
home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Italy. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Please note that all costs and charges listed below are subject to change without notice. With the exception of Program Price, all costs are estimates and may vary.
