DESCRIPTION

This theory-based module will explore the extent to which the idea of the artist as outside or ahead of society is a
Romantic/ Modernist construct. It will also address the related issues of exoticism/orientalism and euro- centrism in
art and critiques of the White Cube, and museum display in general. It will then look at the nuts and bolts of funding
and patronage.
