This course will provide an overview of children?s rights in international law. It will look at the International Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Additional Protocols. During the course, students will debate concepts of childhood and the perception of children and child rights in international law. Country reports will serve to illustrate challenges and predominant obstacles in the international law of the child. The course will cover critical issues like child labor, children in armed conflict and the best interest principle.
