DESCRIPTION
Human understanding of the world and of others' behaviour is contingent on the culture in which one's ancestors have cultivated their values, practices, world views and traditions. Cross-cultural psychology describes how cultural differences in developmental, social, educational and other areas are manifested in an individual's behaviour. The course compares psychological research from different cultures and communities and introduces basic concepts from psychology, cognition and of applied fields. The course places a particular emphasis on the Czech and European culture(s). Cross-cultural psychology touches upon a wide range of topics to allow students to delve deeper in the field and examine human behaviour with an open mind.
