A general introduction to political science, including basic concepts such as power, authority, legitimacy and participation; types of political systems and the present developments in democratic politics. The purpose of this course is to introduce the students to the study politics. This course studies the most central concepts in political science and their application in democratic politics. This is an introductory course that will constitute one of the foundations over which other more specific courses will be building. The aim of the course is to describe the main concepts and institutions that constitute the core of the political activity and to describe the main processes identifiable in the practice of contemporary politics.
