DESCRIPTION
This module introduces students to key ideas and concepts in political theory, including democracy, freedom, equality, human rights and power. These ideas and concepts are explored in the social and historical contexts in which they developed. Students will be encouraged to explore the way that political theory and concepts have been transformed historically, the rival interpretations to which they are subject, and the manner in which they are mobilised in contemporary political debates. The debates that will be explored include multiculturalism, climate change, and the rise of religious activism.
