DESCRIPTION

This course introduces students to the variety of health systems in use around the globe. Topics covered will include the different funding mechanisms in place for those systems, the history of those systems, and the systems' overall impact on public health outcomes. By the end of the course, students will be able to differentiate between prevailing health systems, identify the different components therein. Attention will also be given to methods of identifying and interpreting the key indicators for assessing health system effectiveness and quality.

Using comparative analysis of health systems in use among different G20 nations, this course provides an examination of health policies in different countries and their effects on the health of their populations. The goal of this course is to prepare students to actively engage with health policy and understand the provision of healthcare in their own communities and around the globe.
