DESCRIPTION
In this course, students will gain a firm understanding of the benefits and drawbacks of control management. We shall start by looking at the need for information and our reliance on it and then move on to examine the set of accounts and other available material. Management control involves extensive measurement and is therefore related to and requires contributions from management accounting.
Budgeting techniques related to cash management and the P&L account and variance monitoring will allow students to develop their own criteria for assessing a firm's top management. Deviations from the cash budget will guide students to the field of finance and investment management.
By the end of the course students will be able to analyse and create a balanced scorecard and will appreciate the interrelations between several departments in a company.
