DESCRIPTION

This course explores the psychology of persuasion and social influence, examining how attitudes, ideas and behaviors are shaped, not only by choice and free will, but also through sophisticated persuasive strategies.

Students study the core theories of persuasion, attitudes and attitude change in real world applications in media, politics, advertising, and negotiation. The course encourages and develops independent and critical thinking skills to enable students to recognize and evaluate persuasion techniques, propaganda, and manipulation in everyday life. Through a combination of lectures, theories, case studies, projects, debates and role plays, students develop the ability to analyze, apply, and ethically reflect on persuasive strategies used across different domains, including social media, to assess both beneficial and harmful consequences.
