DESCRIPTION
Cinema is the result of the rapid industrial and technological advancements of the 19th century. Framed within that historical progression, the course offers a perspective on how cinematic discourse is constructed, drawing on adjacent discourses - most notably literary and theatrical ones - thus providing tools for the comparative analysis of films based on literary works. This relational approach allows for a deeper understanding of both forms of expression. The consolidation of a basic cinematic language and the development of a comparative analytical method are two of the main objectives of the course.
Course will consist of 60hrs of in class work and 90 hrs of independent work outside the classroom.
