Meet the Course That Turns Students into Global Problem-Solvers
What happens when you mix a classroom with a boardroom, sprinkle in a few consulting labs, and set the whole thing in a world-class city like Barcelona, London, or Sydney? You get CEA CAPA’s Global Business Consulting - a course that’s redefining what “study abroad” looks like.
Forget lectures and hypothetical case studies. This is real consulting, real clients, real stakes, and yes, real bragging rights.

First, the Snapshot
CEA CAPA’s Global Business Consulting course is a 3-credit, 45-hour experiential learning course that takes students out of the textbook and into the real world of international businesses. In small, interdisciplinary teams, they partner with a local organization abroad to tackle an authentic business challenge.
The mission? Research, design, and pitch actionable solutions that the client can actually use.
And because we believe in high-impact learning, the course culminates in a pitch competition judged by a guest consultant. The winning team walks away with LinkedIn recommendations from both faculty and the client. (Translation: résumé glow-up.)

What Makes This Course Different?
Hands-On Consulting Abroad: Students don’t just learn about consulting - they actually do it. From SWOT analysis to market entry strategies, students apply theory to real-world problems.
Next-Level Career Readiness: Built around the NACE competencies of critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and professionalism, this course gives students the language and confidence to stand out as job candidates and shine in future interviews.
Inclusive & Interdisciplinary: Open to all majors. Marketing meets psychology meets finance. Diverse perspectives = better solutions.
Many Global Locations: Offered in 11 cities across 8 countries, including Barcelona, Florence, London, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Rome, Seville, Sydney, and more.

Inside the Consulting Cycle
Students complete a Team Consultancy Project that mirrors professional practice:
Proposal Plan: Company intro, problem framing, methodology, timeline, roles, benefits, and budget.
Follow-Ups: Progress check-ins during consulting labs.
Final Pitch: A polished presentation to the client, backed by research and actionable recommendations.
Add in case studies, guest speaker assignments, field visits, and a reflective essay analyzing team dynamics using Belbin and Tuckman frameworks and you’ve got a program that’s academically rigorous, rooted in the real world, and ridiculously rewarding.

Why This Matters
Global Business Consulting isn’t just a course - it’s a launchpad. Students leave with:
A portfolio-worthy deliverable.
A client-validated achievement.
The confidence to say, “Yes, I’ve consulted internationally.”
And they do it all while navigating cultural nuances, building professional networks, and learning how businesses really work across borders.
The Bottom Line
This isn’t studying abroad as usual. It’s a high-impact, career-ready experience that blends academic rigor with global adventure. Students gain skills employers crave, and memories they’ll never forget.

Partners Value the High-Quality Experience
"The Global Business Consulting course started out as a joint initiative between CEA CAPA and Providence College to expand experiential learning opportunities for students in the PC School of Business, as such experiences are required for business students who study abroad. This new course provided an additional option for PC students beyond internships. By participating in the consulting course, our students gain hands-on experience and develop teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a cross-cultural setting with their local client in Rome or Barcelona. It’s gratifying for both parties to see this course and experience integrated into CEA CAPA’s standard program offerings, and this course is testament to our long-standing partnership."
~ Christian Wilwohl, Ed.D.
Dean of Global Education
Providence College
Even Host Organizations Are Impressed
“What made the team successful was their dedication and competence in understanding and addressing the necessary steps for the launch of a new product on the market. They created a comprehensive proposal that did not overlook any crucial detail. The collaborative approach ensured a well-structured project, ready to be successfully implemented.” ~ Host Organization
