Where to Find the Best Views in Paris

Paris is filled with beautiful sights to see anytime of year. All semester during my Paris study abroad experience, I found myself going up countless staircases and elevators in search of a great lookout point. I discovered there are so many places you can go to get views of the Eiffel Tower, or the city in general, but here are a few of my top choices!

1. Trocadéro

Located right off the Trocadéro metro stop is the Place du Trocadéro and the Trocadéro Gardens. This is the best place to get an up-close view of the Eiffel Tower. Anytime someone came to visit me, I would take them here for an amazing Eiffel Tower picture and stop at one of the crepe stands nearby.

2. Sacré-Coeur

Sacré-Coeur is an incredible church that is a sight in itself, but when you turn around you’ll also find the whole city laid out in front of you. It is located in Montmartre, which sits at the top of a hill in the 18th arrondissement. Stop by for a visit to the church, an amazing view of the rest of the city, and a look at the cute shops and restaurants in the area.

3. Montparnasse Tower

This modern-looking skyscraper is more than just an office building. It is one of the tallest buildings in the EU, and includes an indoor and outdoor observation deck on the 56th floor. You’ll get a 360-degree view of Paris from the highest vantage point, and it’s just a quick elevator ride away!

4. Arc de Triomphe

If you’re looking for some exercise and a great picture spot, look no further than the Arc de Triomphe. I always suggest to people visiting Paris that if they can only climb one thing in Paris, make it the Arc. As tempting as it is to climb the Eiffel Tower, one thing that makes a Parisian view special is being able to see the tower from afar.

5. Belleville

Located on the outskirts of Paris is Parc de Belleville. Enjoy a picnic with friends and take in the amazing view of the city. It’s a more off-the-beaten-path location than the Champ de Mars or Jardin des Tuileries, so it’s a great place to relax.

6. Wherever you are

The most special thing about Paris is that there’s beauty wherever you go. One of my favorite views was outside the window of my apartment. Every morning and evening, there was a breathtaking sunrise and sunset I could enjoy right from my living room. Get out and explore as much as you can, because you can always find amazing scenery.
