How to turn your CEA-house into a CEA-home

So you just got off the plane and immediately you go to your CEA housing. You are tired, jet-lagged and most importantly you are hungry. The last thing on your mind is unpacking and yet you're still so anxious to walk into your new home and meet your new roomies.

CEA housing is amazing and does their best to accommodate everyone. However, it comes as no surprise that your new home will not exactly feel like your usual stay. Packing with limited space in your suitcase tends to be tedious and tricky, and makes you think twice about everything you wear.

If you are anything like me, being comfortable in a place of living is a deal breaker. Coming into Barcelona alone I feared that I wouldn’t be comfortable, yet, once I got into my apartment it already felt like home. After a week of living in Barcelona, however, my roommates and I decided to spice it up a little. Below are my top 5 tips for turning your magical apartment into a homey castle for you and your roommates.

1. Decide where you will be sleeping
For anyone in apartment-style, although your rooms are already chosen for you, the bed that you pick is not. If you prefer fresh sunlight choose the bed by the window, if you know you get up to go to the bathroom, pick the bed by the door. Bring a pillowcase, cover, small things like that can really make it easier for you.

2.Claim your wall!
Wall decorations make everything a little better. Try bringing a flag from your home country or school, or maybe even some cute pictures of your family members!

3.Get a cheap speaker
Music is the fastest and least expensive type of unwinding and entertaining, plus its a good way for you and your roommates to bond.

4.Lighting
Adding candles or string lights will brighten up your room and leave it a tad cozy!

Hopefully, you enjoyed these tips, but with all this being said the only thing that can truly make your living the most enjoyable is a positive attitude and mindset from your roommates. Until next time.
