After my family lived in the Philippines for 3 years, I knew I needed to study abroad. CEA offered exactly what I was looking for: a housing option that allows cultural immersion, excursions within and outside of Spain, and many opportunities to learn and meet new people.
Horses and carriage rides all over the city!

I was extremely nervous about the language barrier in Spain, mostly because I had not taken a Spanish class in over a year and was really rusty on my Spanish-speaking skills! I am glad it did not stop me from going to Spain because the Spaniards I met were more than willing to help me, and I have learned so much more abroad than I did in a U.S. classroom.
My everyday view on my walk to classes

Although there will always be small bumps in the road when studying abroad, like missing home, your dog, or just being in a country that is comfortable to you, these minor out-of-comfort-zone experiences do not even come close to outweighing the amazing experiences abroad.

Being pushed out of my comfort zone is what taught me the greatest lessons abroad. I have gained such an appreciation for the world around me. I appreciate more the adventures of being young and traveling. There are not always opportunities like study abroad, and this experience has given me an adventurous spirit and passion for going out and seeing as much of the world as possible.

Time is short, and when we are young and still learning with fresh eyes, traveling can be a really eye-opening experience.
