| The Perito Moreno Glacier. |
Along with four friends from CEA, I traveled to 3 different locations within Patagonia. Since this region is so huge and takes up most of the southern part of Argentina, we could only make it to a few spots.

We were picked up from our hostel and brought to Los Glaciares National Park. Here, we took a boat ride to largest glacier in the park!
We were going on an excursion to mini-trek up this glacier called the Perito Moreno Glacier. It is huge and went on for as far as I could see. I had never seen anything that compared to the simple beauty of it. With mountains lining the background of the glacier, I was still in awe of how high the ice rose. We were given special shoes in order to walk up and down the ice without slipping. All of the guides were kind and excited to show us what it was like on the glacier! The excursion itself was about an hour and a half. Within in that time, I trekked up and throughout the glacier, trying to take it all in!

Of course we stopped many times to take pictures. At one point, we were able to drink from a stream of water running through the glacier. Not many people can say they drank from glacier water in Patagonia!

I could hear the glacier cracking and rumbling as I trekked up and down the icy slopes within. It sounded a lot like thunder. There are fissures and cracks on the ice, so we were only able to stay in one general area, but that did not take away from the fun or difficulty of the trek! After we made it to the end of the trek, our guides had some chocolates and whisky with glacier ice waiting for us.
Luckily, the weather was decent for us! It was sunny but then quickly became cloudy and rainy. Then the sun come out again towards the end!

Once the trek was over, we returned our shoes and had some time to sit and relax. Just watching the glacier for a bit we saw huge chunks break off. It sounded like loud rolls of thunder and I could see the effects of the splash against the shoreline.
I would recommend this excursion to anyone interested in going to Patagonia! It is very unique experience and well worth it!
