Eze & Monaco

I remember the drive to my apartment and the anticipation. So many buildings flew by me and this need to explore my new home and country rushed over me. It was only a day after all the orientations that the real fun began. We loaded up the bus with people I only met days ago and began our trip to the Hill Town of Eze and to a place called Monaco. I knew nothing about either of these places, but I was excited to see something new. As we began the incline, I was in shock. We rose higher and higher to see the most stunning view. The bus driver pulled off; I am sure because all the students were attempting to take blurry pictures through the bus windows.

Once the bus reached the top, I realized that this town had more than just a pretty view. The architecture was stunning. Every corner held another hand-painted sign or an adorable alley way.

After seeing this beautiful sight, we moved on to Monaco. Monaco is the second smallest nation in the world. It felt like no place I had ever seen, like a movie set, but even more pristine.
The paint on every building was fresh and every street looked like it had been cleaned just moments ago.

We walked to a market where they had a variety of fresh foods. Many of us purchased some macaroons or a quiche.

Later, we stood at the place where the prince of Monaco lives. The area surrounding his building was just as lovely as where he stays. Our tour guide told us that he is a very personable ruler and can be seen quite often about Monaco.

Needless to say, my experience studying abroad started out on a very good note. I enjoyed seeing so many beautiful places that were so picturesque you had to pinch yourself to make sure you were not dreaming while also getting to know the beautiful people that are all experiencing the same journey studying here in the French Riviera.
