| Entrance into the Opera |
CEA took the students studying in Paris to the legendary Opera Garnier on an unforgettable Sortie to see the Ballet and experience the magic of the Opera. This Sortie was a chance for CEA students to benefit from the cultural, artistic, and architectural richness that the city of Paris has to offer. This Ballet easily made me feel as though I was a star in “L’Fantôme de l’Opéra”.

The evening of dance brought together the work of three major choreographers: Jerome Bel, Jerome Robbins and Benjamin Millepied, the current director of dance at the Opera National de Paris. We were able to take in unique styles from a range of generations, young to old, and many nationalities, all under the historical dome of the Opera Garnier.

CEA met with the students in the 9th arrondissement of Paris at Place de l’Opéra outside of the beautiful Palais Garnier, which was easily accessible by metro. This night was my first time seeing the Opera first-hand and processing with my own eyes how beautiful it is. The building itself stood out immediately due to its eclectic architecture, I speak with no hesitation when I call it simply a masterpiece.

Theatres are curious places, where the unexplainable, the fantastic, the tragic, the comic and the absurd are routine occurrences on stage. And the Ballet we saw, encompassed all this and so much more.
