St. John’s Baptistery is very well known for its bronze doors.  The most famous ones, the “Gates of Paradise”, consist of 10 bronze reliefs showing scenes from the Old Testament.  The panels for the door were designed and created by Lorenzo Ghiberti, and mounted onto the baptistery in 1452.

Il Duomo is a famous dome of Florence atop Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. It is possible to get a beautiful view of the city by climbing to the top of the dome. Il Duomo is one of the main attractions of Florence.

These flags were seen during a parade that happened while I was in Florence. The symbol of the fleur-de-lis is a stylized lily that was represented as a red Florentine lily on the Florence coat of arms. It is now a famous symbol of the city.
