People watching on terraces, bustling servers in long, white tabliers, the chatter of patrons sipping foamy café crème...Parisian cafés have been made famous for the unique ambiance that they continue to exude. It's a place to go for a quick café before class, to meet friends, relax and take in the soul of the city.

Would Paris be the same without these corner cafés? Bien sur que non! many Parisians would say.

Inspired by what is now considered a French institution, CEA Paris has taken the spirit of the Parisian café and created a Café of their own! So without further ado...

CEA présente: Les Cafés!

What is a CEA Café? According to Hélène Jouen, Student Services Coordinator, a CEA Café is an opportunity for CEA and local French students to come together - just as they would in any Parisian café. In addition to spending a great time together, everyone learns about and discusses the night's theme (partially in French, bien sur!) and partakes in the highlighted Café activity to finish off the evening.

Eight thematic Cafés are offered over the course of the Fall 2012 semester - Café Cinéma, Café Gourmand, Café Cuisine et Rencontres, Café Mode, Café Politique, Café Théâtre, Café des Arts and Café Musique. CEA Paris students then choose three Cafés that spark their interest.

Last night, students came to Café Cinéma - check it out:

Café-goers meet in the CEA student lounge, ready for a night of French ciné.

Un peu de français -how do you pronounce American actors' names in French??? Let's be honest, we all got stuck on Jake Gyllenhaal!

After a bit of French cinema trivia with Hélène, students were off to the Gaumont Parnasse movie theatre for a screening of Les Saveurs du Palais, with French actress, Catherine Frot.

Prochain rendez-vous au Café? Café Politique next Tuesday! A night of debates in preparation for the Presidential election that's just around the corner!
