Today a major economic and cultural center in the Czech Republic, Prague is a modern city unspoiled by the ravages of time. Our study abroad students attend classes at Anglo-American University alongside international and Czech students, participate in university clubs and sports and can choose between on- or off-campus housing.

Apply to study abroad this summer in our eight-week Liberal Arts & Social Sciences program, and you'll gain access to Prague's renowned beauty, an academic institution rooted in integrity and a summertime full of extra-curricular activities to stimulate your senses. Whether it's food, drink, music (rock or opera) or intellectual intrigue you're looking for, this Eastern European city has much to offer.

Prague Food Festival. (May 28-30) Savor the culinary insight you'll gain from this three-day festival celebrating the top chefs in the Czech Republic and the beauty of Prague. Explore this international European city through the more than 30 restaurants that will be serving Czech, Brazilian, French, Japanese, Mediterranean Kosher, Thai specialties and more.

Prague Beer Festival. (May 14-30) This year marks the Prague Beer Festival's third triumphant return as an exciting venue for socializing and sampling of more than 50 brands of Czech beer. Held in eight, large-scale tents, the festival offers a seating capacity of 10,000, 300 servers dressed in traditional Czech costume, and a stage with entertainment in each tent.

Prague Writer's Festival. (June 6-10) Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of this literary festival at the National Theatre in Prague this summer with "Heresy and Rebellion." This year's authors include Michal Ajvaz, Fernando Arrabal, Iain Banks, Radka Denemarkova, Assia Djebar and more. Attend book signings, eavesdrop on literary conversations and attend author presentations. Past notable figures have included John Banville and Salman Rushdie.

Rock for the People Festival. (July 3-7) What began 14 years ago as a small, regional music festival has grown into one of the biggest and most popular in the Czech Republic. Artists from around the world meet for three days on three or four stages on an old military airfield in Hradec Kralove. Past artists have included Monkeys, Placebo, The Killers, Chumbawamba, Ska-P, Transglobal Underground and others. Browse a variety of vendors selling merchandise, CDs and crafts while you savor Czech food and drink.

Smetana's Litomysl International Opera Festival. (June 11-July 5) Attend a music mass by Jiri Pavlica along with a traditional service celebrated by Mos. Tomas Halik in the open air second castle courtyard at Litomysl Castle, a national cultural landmark registered on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Today the castle serves as the backdrop for the second-oldest classical music festival in the Czech Republic, behind the Prague Spring Music Festival.

Other events not to miss:
• Prague Spring International Music Festival (May 12-June 4)
• Respect World Music Festival. (June 18-19)
• International Music Festival. (July 16-Aug. 21)
• Hradec Kralove Battle Re-enactment (July)
