About the Program
Go global while staying local this summer by exploring international cultures through courses in Art History, Communication, Cultural Studies, Nutrition and Psychology. Taught in an online platform, CEA’s faculty will use various formats to present relevant material and provide you access to international content and expertise. Participation is key, as this program is a dynamic environment that requires interaction and collaborative learning. Your instructors will take you out of the “classroom,” to give you learning opportunities incomparable to those typically available on your home campus. With unique features that create opportunities for cultural engagement, CEA’s virtual study environment will set you up for success in the global, online world that awaits you upon graduation.

CEA Virtual Center
CEA’s Virtual Study Center is a hub of exclusive courses, lectures and cultural engagement activities all accessible online. In CEA’s Virtual Study Center you will:
- take courses taught by experts in their fields from around the world;
- gain international and comparative perspectives; and
- engage with local cultures and communities.
Unlike CEA’s Study Centers, our Virtual Study Center is not bound by location and provides you with the chance to choose the courses and experience that best align with your academic, career, and personal interests. Accreditation
Courses taught through the CEA Virtual Study Center have been designed in conjunction with, and approved by, the University of New Haven (UNH). In addition, faculty appointments have been approved by UNH. After the successful completion of a session at the CEA Virtual Study Center, you will receive credit for your work from UNH. Located in Connecticut, the University of New Haven is a student-focused, comprehensive university that’s fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The agreement between CEA and UNH follows the highest standards of good practice in education abroad and satisfies the rigorous requirements of the University's institutional accreditor, making credits earned through CEA’s Virtual Study Center easily transferable to US-accredited institutions. Grading
Faculty at the CEA Virtual Study Center will evaluate student work and progress throughout the academic session. The following grading system is in use at CEA’s Virtual Study Center:

Completion of a course is defined as a receipt of a letter grade (A+ to F) as opposed to Withdrawal or Incomplete.
In order to determine a quality point ratio, each letter grade from a completed course is assigned a quality point value. The quality point value for each grade earned during a semester is multiplied by the number of semester hours assigned to that course. The sum of these points is the total number of quality points earned during the semester. It is divided by the number of semester hours completed to obtain the quality point ratio (QPR).
Classroom and Information
- Classes are taught by faculty selected by CEA and approved by UNH.
- Periodic homework assignments, projects, and final examinations will be administered.
- Class participation is mandatory and monitored by each professor. You may access your grades and attendance on your MyCEA Account.

Credits
Program Structure & Courses
Tailor the Virtual Summer to your own academic needs and availability, enrolling in 1 to 2 courses over a four-week period. The July and August options offer 1 to 2 simultaneous courses in four weeks. Each course is worth 3 credits.
All courses will be taught in English using an online Learning Management System. You are expected to be an active participant in online forums, in addition to completing your regular readings, videos and homework. The online structure enables you to learn at your own pace during the allocated time, allowing you to absorb new content and work on your projects and assignments at your own rhythm.
Upon enrollment in the program, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability, therefore we recommend you have alternative courses approved by your home university should your first choice courses not meet enrollment minimums. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Excursions
Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions.
