Dublin City University
Dublin City University (DCU) is situated on an 85-acre campus just a 10-minute bus drive from the city center. Students at DCU enjoy the best of both worlds: the social and cultural benefits of city life, and the security and vibrancy of a modern campus. DCU opened its doors in 1980 with the goal of creating a highly-trained workforce in the fields like business, science, electronics, computer technology, communications, and languages. Today, DCU is recognized as a center of academic excellence, with more than 12,000 students and 120 programs across four faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Health, Engineering and Computing, and the DCU Business School, which holds the accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
DCU has introduced a number of innovative ideas to the Irish education system. For instance, DCU was the first university in Ireland to introduce work placement (INTRA) into degree programs, and the first to offer interdisciplinary degree programs. DCU’s research centers are known for their international collaboration with other universities and across industries. These research centers transcend traditional boundaries, integrating academic disciplines such as biotechnology, electronic engineering, physics, and chemistry.

Credit Transfer Information
Dublin City University awards credits based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) system. CEA CAPA credit hour recommendations are based on the following conversion: 2 ECTS credits equals 1 U.S. semester credit. Credit transfer is ultimately determined by your home university. Please consult with an academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Grade conversions from CEA CAPA partner institutions abroad to a US grading scale are determined in consultation with our School of Record and benchmarked with other peer institutions in the field.

- Periodic exams, homework assignments, and final exams (spring semester only) will be administered.
- Attendance in some classes is mandatory and monitored by professors.

Accreditation
Courses taught at the CEA CAPA Dublin Center have been designed in conjunction with, and approved by, the University of New Haven (UNH). In addition, faculty appointments have been approved by UNH. After the successful completion of a session at the CEA CAPA Dublin Center, you will receive credit for your work from UNH. Located in Connecticut, the University of New Haven is a student-focused, comprehensive university that’s fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The agreement between CEA CAPA and UNH follows the highest standards of good practice in education abroad and satisfies the rigorous requirements of the University's institutional accreditor, making credits earned at the CEA CAPA Dublin Center easily transferable to US-accredited institutions. Grading
Professors at the CEA CAPA Dublin Center carefully evaluate students' work and progress throughout their academic session. When calculating final grades, instructors consider written and oral exercises, homework assignments, attendance, classroom participation, and exam performance.

Program Structure & Courses
Each semester, you'll enroll in 9 US Credits (15 ECTS) at DCU and 3-6 credits at the Dublin Study Center. Contact hours and meeting times vary at DCU; courses may be structured through a combination of seminars, lectures, or tutorials. CEA CAPA courses meet twice a week, Monday-Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.
You will have access to available courses in the Education study stream. More advanced courses have pre-requisites, so be sure to check that you meet their requirements if any are listed on the DCU website. See below for information how to access the DCU courses for each stream.
Within your selected study stream, you can select 2-3 courses from the stream's list of 'Modules' (the term used for 'courses' in Ireland), then choose up to 1 optional course from the stream's list of 'Electives', for a total of 3 courses.
You'll "pre-register" by submitting DCU course selections and alternates to CEA CAPA before you leave for Dublin. Upon arrival in Ireland, you will have one week to make changes to your course selections, so long as the courses you are intending to move to are not full.
It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses (at least 8) approved by your home university prior to your pre-registration due to course availabilities. No module is ever guaranteed until the beginning of each semester at DCU. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
