Spend a summer immersed in Czech culture, attending class with local Czech and other international students at Anglo-American University (AAU). All courses are taught in English, and a diverse selection of topics and disciplines allows you to find courses aligned with your academic interests. Many courses incorporate experiential learning activities that enhance your Prague experience. Choose your courses from a wide range of areas, such as business, liberal arts, social sciences, and much more, that meet your academic and personal interests. You may focus your studies in the following recommended thematic areas: International Business, Culture & Politics in Central Europe, and Visual Arts in Central Europe.
Choose a 6- or 9-week session; students in 6-week sessions enroll in 1-2 courses, while students in 9-week sessions enroll in 2-3 courses. The 9-week session is divided into two parts: You'll select 1 course offered in an intensive 3-week period and 1-2 courses offered over the course of 6-weeks. Courses meet for 42 contact hours/3 credits.
If you choose a 6-week session, you may earn 3-6 credits (up to 84 contact hours); if you choose a 9-week session, you may earn 6-9 credits (up to 126 contact hours).
Classes meet at various times, Monday-Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
Our partner, Anglo-American University, is Prague’s oldest private university. With a strong focus on international students, AAU offers more than 100 courses across its five schools. Courses are taught in English; you’ll attend class alongside local Czech and other international students from more than 50 countries. AAU’s stunning campus is located in the 17th century Thurn-Taxis Palace in the central Mala Strana neighborhood, adjacent to the CEA Prague Office and within walking distance of the Charles Bridge and other notable historic sites.
When in Prague, you can choose standard CEA housing—in an apartment shared with other CEA students—or arrange your own independent housing. Assignments are based on availability and confirmation date; we make every effort to match your housing requests, but we can’t guarantee housing preferences.
