DESCRIPTION
This course uses contemporary Spanish films (2000-present) as a lens to examine the pressing social, political, and cultural issues that define 21st-century Spain. Through film clips analysis, critical readings, and discussions, students explore topics such as national identity, regional tensions, gender and sexuality, historical memory, youth culture, immigration, and inequality. Through this course, students develop a nuanced understanding of how cinema both reflects and shapes today's Spain.
