DESCRIPTION

The course is for absolute beginners and lower intermediate students of German concentrating on grammar, conversation and common vocabulary and economic terminology. The aim of this course is that the student should have good knowledge of basic grammar, everyday German vocabulary, basic conversation topics and elementary economic terminology. Studying German on the basis of English and making use of the similarities of the two languages is one of the methods. Students should be able to apply grammar having drilled that on many exercises. They should also be able to translate from English into German and reverse which might sometimes appear as a technical problem. Working with texts should include not only reading and translating into English but further more, analysis using answers and questions, methods, reproduction, narration etc. The work includes conversation, an important part of the teaching process, concerning the topics in the texts. More vocabulary should be added. Simple economic texts, terms and phrases will be a part of the course. Listening to the recording made by the native speaker will train comprehension. Analysis (questions and answers), reproduction, narration or a dialogue between the students will follow. The prime objective of the course is good knowledge of grammar, common and economic vocabulary, conversation topics. The students should be able to apply the language practically (active knowledge) in everyday situations as well as in economic sphere. To achieve that the students will have to work not only at school but also much at home, home assignments being oral and written (studying words and phrases, exercises from workbook, translation from English into German, prep. Narrations, short essays... Before writing a course exam there will be the revision of the part that had been studied before. This kind of revision also takes place before writing the final exam.
