DESCRIPTION

This course aims to help students understand and explain political outcomes, processes and systems through the lenses of main theoretical approaches in political science such as rational choice theory, game theory, the institutional approach (historical institutionalism, neo and new institutionalism), Marxist and structuralist approaches, as well as cultural perspectives. The comparative method is emphasized throughout the course while the readings cover phenomena ranging from revolutions, political protests, democratization, electoral politics, state formation and social policies. Additionally, students will be introduced to EU-based data
featuring public opinion of institutions.
