Tips for Studying Abroad in London

I’ve spent the past three months living and studying abroad in London, England.  I’ve done a bit of traveling in Europe while I’ve been here, and I think that of all the cities I’ve visited, London is the most fast-paced.  Everything is right at your fingertips!  There is definitely an abundance of things to do in London, no matter what your interests are.  That is one of my favorite things about the city – there is always plenty to do.  I’d like to outline some of my favorite things to do in London in case you ever decide to visit or study here!
If you’re interested in art, there are tons of art galleries to go to, not to mention the street art at your disposal.  I like the Tate Modern – comparable to the MoMA in New York City.  But depending on what kind of art you are interested in, you can really find anything.  Check out Brick Lane for some amazing street art by Banksy, Sheperd Fairy, Space Invader, and other legends.
If you’re a foodie, like I am, the options are endless – from inexpensive fish and chips to Michelin starred gourmet restaurants.  And that’s not to mention the various food markets around the city, brimming with delectable, local treats.  Head to the Borough Market for seasonal flavors like mulled cider, roasted chestnuts, and hot chocolate.  If you can’t get there, just pick any market – there is bound to be amazing street food near clusters of stands.
Personally, I love history and literature.  If you’re interested in these subjects, you can go to Shakespeare’s Globe and see one of his plays performed there.  Also consider checking out the British Library and the British Museum – both are amazing places full of British culture and history.  Also consider taking a tour of Saint Paul’s Cathedral – even if you are not religious the architecture and history alone will make the trip worthwhile.
As my study abroad experience draws to a close, I couldn’t be happier with the way that it turned out.  Of course I miss my family and my friends from back home, but this has been such an incredible opportunity.  I’ve made amazing new friends, learned a lot about myself, and gotten to know London, which is a truly fantastic city.  If you are considering studying abroad, give it some serious thought because it is a great opportunity that will open so many doors for you, and help you learn about both yourself and different cultures.  And London is a great city; so if you are looking for a fast-paced, modern city with a ton of history and culture, look into studying in London!
