Daniel Cunningham
Center Director, Sydney
Since 2008, Daniel has focused his skills and expertise around student services, activity programming, accommodations, procurement and staff management, sales and marketing, client relations, and health and safety. Holding roles such as the Duty Manager and Academic Coordinator at Corrib Village, a large student accommodation facility in Galway, Ireland, and at the Griffith College housing facilities in Dublin, where he provided exceptional service to the CEA CAPA Dublin team and our students, has allowed Daniel to understand and meet the range of needs that students have to complete a successful program abroad. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Accountancy (Honors) degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and a Higher Diploma in Project Management from Griffith College, Dublin.

Julia Miller, PhD
Academic Director, Sydney

Dr. Julia Miller is the Director of Academic Affairs in the CEA CAPA Sydney Center. Dr. Miller leads the academic delivery of our programming and ensures the classroom experience is designed to support the health and safety of the students through the hiring of trusted faculty and supporting CEA CAPA’s strong, inclusive, academic policies.

Julia has been teaching in the Australian tertiary education sector for more than a decade. She gained her doctorate in Modern History from Macquarie University for her research in climate history. For CEA CAPA, Julia teaches Analyzing and Exploring the Global City, Australian History, and People, Place, and Culture: Environmental Debates in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific. The latter course reflects Julia’s deep concern about our environmental future. At CEA CAPA, Julia has put in place the Sustainable Sydney initiative to build environmental awareness and encourage behavioral change. Julia lives in Pittwater on Sydney’s Northern Beaches—an area known for its coastline, waterways, and healthy lifestyle.

Aija Bruvere
Internship Coordinator
Aija is a Careers, Coaching, and Positive Psychology specialist, and has worked in the student careers and internships space on two different continents. Aija comes from Latvia but has been calling Australia her home for 11 years. She has a master’s degree in social sciences and a graduate diploma in coaching psychology from the University of Sydney. Aija is passionate about travel and speaks five languages, including Italian and French.

Amy O'Rourke
Program and Student Services Coordinator
Amy is from Ireland and graduated from the University of Galway with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2018. Since then, she has worked in several different sectors, from working with the elderly as an activity coordinator during the COVID-19 pandemic, to more recently working in business administration. Amy is a keen traveler and has been fortunate enough to travel and work abroad in Canada, Finland, and now Australia, gaining valuable cultural experiences and meeting people from all over the world. In Canada, she worked as a program and activity coordinator at a children's camp, and in Finland she worked in tourism. Amy is so excited to be a part of the CEA CAPA team and looks forward to the adventures ahead and welcoming lots of new students to Sydney.

Andréa Cabral Leal Ferreira, PhD
Academic Coordinator

Dr. Andréa Cabral Leal Ferreira is the Academic Coordinator at CEA CAPA Sydney. Previously, she worked as Lecturer of Portuguese and Portuguese Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL) from 2016-2022. She served as Affiliate Faculty at the UF Center for Latin American Studies from 2017-2022, and as Director and Lead Instructor of the University of Florida Summer Study Abroad Program in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 2015-2021. She received her Ph.D. in History from the University of Florida in 2022, after earning her M.A. in Brazilian Studies in 2009.

Andréa has taught courses on Brazilian culture and literature, mega-events, contemporary Latin American history, race and national identity, Portuguese language, and Portuguese translation/interpretation. She designed and supervised student internship programs in the US and Brazil. For CEA CAPA, Andréa coordinates courses, supports students in academic matters, serves on scholarship committees, and manages Canvas shells. She also teaches Global Internships courses, preparing students for a global career.

Fiona Pearson
Assistant Director of Program & Student Services
Prior to her role at CEA CAPA, Fiona spent 14 years at the Institute for Study Abroad (IFSA), serving in a variety of roles, most recently as the Director of Australian Programs to IFSA's largest cohort. Fiona is passionate about working with and making a difference for students in the best city in the world (Sydney). She piloted a number of diversity and inclusion initiatives at IFSA which saw her speak at the Diversity Abroad conference in 2020. When not at work, Fiona can be found chasing after her toddler on the beach, singing at events and festivals, or watching true crime documentaries. Fiona holds a Bachelor of Communications (Theatre & Media) from Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.

Robynn Patterson
Program and Student Services Coordinator
Robynn was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and moved to Oxford, Mississippi, to study business at the University of Mississippi. She began her immigration to Australia as a study abroad student in 2020 when she came to Sydney to study toward her B.B.A in Marketing at the University of Sydney. After facing a whirlwind first semester there due to the pandemic, she decided to extend her time there so that she could pursue the experiences she sought post-pandemic. A few years later, she's still here and here to stay!
