About the Program

Program Description

Build marketable skills while gaining résumé-boosting experience in a city that offers a down-to-earth lifestyle, as well as a multitude of internship opportunities in small- to medium-size organizations. Internships in Seville encourage you to immerse into local culture while developing practical skills in fields such as business, psychology, journalism, communication, arts, and more. Build your professional network as you gain the hands-on international experience that employers value. Learn more about the benefits of a CEA internship.

Program Structure

You'll enroll in an internship seminar course that includes an academic seminar and an internship placement and 2-4 elective courses at the CEA Seville Center. You may choose to take up to 2 elective courses at UPO or EUSA.

Your internship seminar meets for 22 seminar hours and you'll spend 120 hours at your internship placement. Together, your seminar and internship placement are worth 3 credits. CEA and EUSA courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. UPO courses meet for 15-75 hours/1-5 credits. You may earn a total of 12-15 credits (up to 225 contact hours) over the semester.

Your internship placement hours may take place Monday-Friday; the exact time of day and days of the week will be determined after you arrive. Classes at the CEA Seville Center and Pablo de Olavide University meet on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday; course schedules at EUSA University Center may vary. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled on Fridays.

We strongly recommended that you apply as soon as possible. Internship positions are selective; students who demonstrate both professionalism and commitment throughout the process are most successful in securing placements.

The placement process involves three Skype or phone interviews: a screening interview with your site specialist, a job placement interview with your study center placement coordinator, and a final interview with your host site supervisor. The host site retains the final decision regarding placements, so it’s important that your interviews reflect your maturity, adaptability, curiosity, and commitment to both your career interests and the host organization. Upon successfully completing your study center placement coordinator interview, CEA guarantees you a placement based on the personal, professional, and cross-cultural goals reflected in your interview. All placements will be secured two weeks prior to arrival.

Upon placement, you’ll automatically be enrolled in your internship course.  Prior to departure, you will be asked to also select your preferred courses and take a language placement exam. If you choose to take a Spanish language or elective course at our partner institution, you will take another language placement exam on-site. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Spain. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Picture Yourself Here.

If you could go anywhere, where would you choose?

Can't decide? Don't worry. We still love you. Check as many as you like. Still not sure? That's OK. We would totally have a hard time too. Just check 'I don't know yet'.
