About the Program

Program Description

The Communication & Journalism program at Anglo-American University allows you to experience the combination of technologies, media, and cultures first-hand as well as report on Czech culture and current events. You will take the same classes as degree-seeking Czech and other European students at AAU, creating a truly integrated experience not available elsewhere in Prague study abroad. Many courses incorporate an active learning style that takes you out of the classroom and into the city, lending real-world context to lessons learned in class. With more than 100 courses available, all taught in English, across AAU's five schools—Business Administration, Humanities & Social Sciences, Journalism, International Relations & Diplomacy, and Law—you’ll find diverse course options to meet your academic interests.

Program Structure

You will enroll in 1 Core Course with a local, regional, or national focus; 1 - 4 Communication & Journalism Courses; and up to 3 Elective Courses. Courses meet for 42–56 contact hours and count for 3 credits. Students may earn 12–15 credits (up to 210 contact hours) credits per semester.

Classes meet at various times, Monday through Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.

Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on availability and further changes can be made during the add/drop period at the beginning of the semester. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Where You'll Study

Our partner, Anglo-American University, is Prague’s oldest private university. With a strong focus on international students, AAU offers more than 100 courses across its five schools. Courses are taught in English; you’ll attend class alongside local Czech and other international students from more than 50 countries.  AAU’s stunning campus is located in the 17th century Thurn-Taxis Palace in the central Mala Strana neighborhood, adjacent to the CEA Prague Office and within walking distance of the Charles Bridge and other notable historic sites.

Where You'll Stay

When in Prague, you can choose standard CEA housing—in an apartment shared with other CEA students—or arrange your own independent housing. Assignments are based on availability and confirmation date; we make every effort to match your housing requests, but we can’t guarantee housing preferences.
