Program Structure

Enroll in one Core Course, taught in English. Select 3 - 4 elective courses from any subject area, including Spanish for international students. Courses typically meet for 32 – 64 contact hours/2-4 credits.

One academic credit is typically the equivalent of 16 contact hours in the classroom. You may earn a total of 12-16 credits (up to 256 contact hours) per semester.

Classes generally meet Monday – Friday. Active learning components required by courses may be scheduled any day of the week.

Prior to departure, you will indicate your preferred courses and approximate language level. Once in Bogotá, you’ll finalize your course enrollment, as well as take a language placement test if you desire to take a Spanish language class. You will be enrolled a language course based on the results of your exam.

It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure you receive credit for a language course, if you are taking one, have your home university pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Colombia. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
