Harnessing the Power of Personal Narratives in Education Abroad

Every education abroad practitioner has a superpower that can be found in their personal narrative. In this session, participants develop their professional “origin story,” thinking about the unique talents and ideas they bring to the field and how to use them to identify professional goals and next steps in their careers. Managers learn techniques to help develop stories to support professional development and growth.
Learning Objectives:
- Craft a short and compelling story of why you decided to be an international educator, weave in identities and articulate the skills and value you bring to the field.
- Identify how to use your story to advocate for themselves or to support teammates.
- Develop connections with session attendees to build a strong support network.
- Create action plans for future engagement with newly formed stories and use your stories to continue collaboration around new ideas, best practices, and approaches to the field.
