Online Cultural Engagement
CEA is committed to helping students learn about and connect with local communities, even when students are unable to travel abroad. CEA’s online cultural engagement program, Culture Connect, provides such opportunities for the virtual student. Through a variety of social & cultural activities, both synchronous and asynchronous, virtual students will gain access to and experience the local cultures of Spain, France, Czech Republic, Ireland, Italy and Argentina. CEA virtual students will explore the world via CEA’s virtual platform and will benefit from learning that goes beyond the traditional classroom.
These unique engagement opportunities come alive through videos, links and presentations and are organized in the following ways:
People/Places/Things- These are topics that focus on local cultures, communities and countries.
- Some topics may have a comparative approach in that they incorporate perspectives from various countries.
- Examples include: Cooking classes, tours of local monuments, and local life highlights.
- These are topics that focus on current events or other emerging issues.
- Topics are global in nature and are presented from a variety of perspectives.
- Examples include: climate change, immigration, views on the U.S. Presidential Election from abroad and COVID-19.
