Why did you choose to study/intern abroad?
I chose to study abroad to enhance my experience with foreign cultures, people, and places. As an international business major, it was important for me to make sure I had long-term experience abroad during my undergraduate career.
Why did you choose your study/intern city?
I chose Madrid, Spain, because it would not only fulfill my experience requirement, but also allow me to travel and live in a place I have always wanted to visit! Immersing myself in a Spanish-speaking culture would also help me improve my language skills and allow me to put myself in situations where I am forced to practice... of course, not to mention Spain is beautiful!!
What are you most looking forward to during your abroad experience?
I am most looking forward to getting to create meaningful connections with the locals, as well as students within my program. I love interacting with different cultures and getting to know others on a personal level, so I am excited by the possibilities for friendships and lasting connections that living in a new country will bring.
Fun Fact (hobbies, interests, accomplishment, etc.)?
I grew up in Alaska since I was 11 years old and lived only a mile away from the nearest glacier, where I would bike nearly every day in the summer. I worked for the State Department for two summers during my undergraduate career and hope to pursue employment as a Foreign Service Officer in the future. I love reading & writing, photography, anything outdoors, and, of course, travel!!
