"Cogar sa Páirc," a 'Talk in the Park'

Theatre seems to play a paramount role in Galway's arts scene.  The world-famous Druid Theatre lies right off of Quay Street (boasting of the first woman director, Garry Hynes, to receive a Tony in 1998) among many other. NUIG boasts of three student-run theatre groups outside of the department, one of these being the Gaeilge-language troupe, A Cumann Drámaíochta OÉG. Feeling unmoored without the press release deadlines and photo shoots of my home school's theatre, I've been lucky enough to do a smidgen of PR work for An Cumann Drámaíochta in preparation for their upcoming show, "Cogar sa Pháirc," an adaptation (with some creative improvisation) of Alan Aykbourn's one-act from the 5-part series Confusions. The play features three women and two men (one, a transvestite) seeking a listening ear from strangers on scattered park benches and subsequently driving each other away to solitude with their ranting.
