About the Program

Program Description

Choose courses from Anglo-American University's (AAU) full curriculum: More than 100 courses, all taught in English, across a range of disciplines. You'll attend class with local Czech and other international students, creating a truly integrated experience. Many courses incorporate an active learning style that takes you out of the classroom and into the city, lending real-world context to lessons learned in class. AAU's five schools—Business Administration, Humanities & Social Sciences, Journalism, International Relations & Diplomacy, and Law—provide you with diverse course options to meet your academic interests. Since the program is so robust, you may consider the following thematic tracks to focus your studies: Culture & Politics in Central Europe, Visual Arts in Central Europe, and Certificate in Central European Jewish Studies.

Program Structure

Each semester, you'll enroll in 1 core course—with a local, regional, or national focus—and 3-4 elective courses. Courses meet for 42-56 contact hours/3 credits. Semester students may earn 12-15 credits (up to 210 contact hours); academic year students may earn 24-30 credits (up to 420 contact hours).

Classes meet at various times, Monday-Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.

Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Where You'll Study

Our partner, Anglo-American University, is Prague’s oldest private university. With a strong focus on international students, AAU offers more than 100 courses across its five schools. Courses are taught in English; you’ll attend class alongside local Czech and other international students from more than 50 countries.  AAU’s stunning campus is located in the 17th century Thurns & Taxis Palace in the central Mala Strana neighborhood, adjacent to the CEA Prague Office and within walking distance of the Charles Bridge and other notable historic sites.

Where You'll Stay

When in Prague, you can choose standard CEA housing—in an apartment shared with other CEA students—or arrange your own independent housing. Assignments are based on availability and confirmation date; we make every effort to match your housing requests, but we can’t guarantee housing preferences.
