About the Program
Do you speak Spanish at an advanced level? Are you ready to take your language skills to the next level while delving into Latin American culture? Then this program is for you! You’ll attend class alongside Chilean and other Latin American students, choosing from a wide range of courses taught in Spanish. Flexible course options allow you to earn credits toward your major or fulfill additional graduation requirements. You’ll hone your language skills through interactions with your fellow students in the classroom and on campus.

Program Structure
Enroll in 2 core courses to facilitate your language study and 2 integrated courses from the University of Viña del Mar's regular course listings. Core courses meet for 32-124 contact hours/2-8 credits, while integrated courses meet for 64 contact hours/4 credits. You may enroll in an optional Service Learning workshop and earn 1 additional credit.
You may earn a total of 14-18 credits (up to 282 contact hours) per semester. Class days and times vary. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled on Fridays.
You'll register for courses and take a language placement exam after you arrive in Viña del Mar. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Excursions
Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs*. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.
