Islam has been a presence in Europe for centuries, but today?s media outlets might lead us to believe that Islam is a threat to European civilization. This course will explore not only current events highlighting this problematic perception of Islam but more importantly how these events are covered in the media. Students will look at historical precedents in an effort to clarify the reality and the background leading up to the current situation.
